Who am I?

I’m Jeris, I’m from Minnesota, and I’m a self-proclaimed “Woman of all Trades.” I am a mom, wife, college instructor, website editor, knitter, crocheter, bookworm, pattern designer, coffee lover, binge-watcher and blogger.  I’ve been trying to figure out a way to combine all of my loves, and working from home as a blogger about fandom and fiber arts is really my best shot at doing that.

My fandoms (a brief sampling): Harry Potter, Outlander, Frankenstein, Poldark, Edgar Allan Poe, The Office, Jane Austen, Downton Abbey, Disney, Parks & Rec, Shameless, Stranger Things.  Do these all count as “fandoms”? Sure.  Why not.  Are there more?  Oh, yes indeed, but I have to cut this off somewhere, right?

What is Fandom Knitting & Crochet?

It’s a blog, but it is more than that.  It is a community of knitters, crocheters, those that aspire to the fiber arts, and those that simply appreciate them.  It’s also for fangirls and fanboys to enjoy a community celebrating the books, tv, movies, music, and pop culture that inspire us and bring us joy.

So, what will I be posting?  Right now, here’s what I envision: Patterns, Tutorials, and Fandom.  It’s pretty simple.  I plan to post original patterns inspired by different fandoms, as well as links and shout-outs to other designers’ fandom-inspired creations.  The goal is to give you projects inspired by the literature and pop culture you love.

I’ll be adding some tutorials and tips that have helped me along the way.  For instance, if I post a pattern that calls for color changes, I might share a video about how to complete those color changes.  I’ll try to share useful techniques to make everyone’s projects run smoothly.

Then, I’ll be posting about the Fandoms! So, you might see a post about Harry Potter.  Or The Office.  Or Edgar Allan Poe.  I’ll share things like quotes, printables, fun photos, and, of course, yarns and patterns inspired by those fandoms.  I might dabble in sharing some travel ideas and photos, too.  I hope to branch out of my particular favorites and share fandom-related content others may love, so I look forward to having an engaged community to provide suggestions.

Why Create this Blog?

For the love of knitting, crocheting, and fandom life.  I’ve noticed that so many of the knitters and crocheters I know are really passionate about their fandoms.  They love to make projects inspired by those fandoms, and I thought this would be a perfect way to share those fandoms and foster that community of fandom fiber artists.
